Method 1: Check the HDMI Cable

Sometimes, due to some reason, the HDMI cable can be shifted from its port. You need to check and reset it. Following are the steps:

  1. Firstly, remove the HDMI cable from the Roku player and TV.
  2. Then, Turn Off Roku, unplug all the power cables, and wait for a few seconds.
  3. After that, connect the HDMI cable tightly, followed by other cables.
  4. Finally, Turn ON the Roku device and TV.

Method 2: Restart the Roku Device and the TV

The Roku error 020 could occur due to a temporary communication glitch between the devices. So to fix the error, you have to restart the Roku and TV. You can do this in two methods, one by remote and another manually.

1. Restart the Through Roku Menu

  1. Firstly, open the Roku Settings from the Home menu (Press the Home button from the Roku remote) and, scroll down, choose System.

2. Restart Manually

  5. Now, plug back both Roku and TV/AVR devices to the power source and turn on the devices.
  6. Once the devices turns on, check that the error is cleared. 
  7. If that did not work, then repeat steps 1-5. But at step 5, firstly power on your TV, and after it completely turns on, then turn on the Roku device. 
  8. Finally, check for the error.
