22 National Law Universities participate in the CLAT exam each year. Private law schools that sign the MoU, Memorandum of Understanding, with the Consortium, also become a part of the CLAT exam. Once the exam is conducted and the results are declared, these law schools release their CLAT cut-off. The cut-off is released through various rounds. The Cut off refers to the minimum marks needed to get admission to a particular college. Releasing the cut-off is one of the essential parts of the CLAT admission process. The CLAT 2023 exam will be held on 18 December 2022, so we expect the CLAT 2023 exam cut-off to be released by January 2023.
Factors Affecting CLAT Cut-off
There are a handful of factors that influence the cut-off each year. Due to these variables, the cut-off is not the same each year. These include:
- The total number of aspirants who appeared for the CLAT 2023 exam.
- Previous year’s cut-off patterns.
- The number of applicants for admissions.
- Availability of seats for 5-year LLB programme.
- Reservation Policy.
These factors directly impact the CLAT cut off. For example: If the seats reserved for a category increase, the seats for other categories will decrease. Therefore the cut-off for different categories would rise.
CLAT previous years’ Cut-Off
We can only estimate the factors like the number of aspirants appearing for the exam and the total number of applicants. The exact number will be available only once the process has begun. Therefore we cannot anticipate the cut-off based on those. However, we can study the previous years’ cut-off to understand the trend and then judge the CLAT 2023 cut-off.
